Embrace the opportunities knocking at your door- Developing an open-mind

Updated: Jan 29, 2022

Dear Vibrant Young Mind,

I have seen graduates forcing themselves into doing something they don’t want to. They refrain from trying anything new that comes their way. Do you know what makes them do so? In most cases, either it is the pressure to get a job quickly or the fear of seeing their previous years getting wasted.

When you explore the newer opportunities being presented to you, you get to see that there are so many innovative, exciting, and passionate things to do. Experimenting with something you are passionate about can make things even better. You feel enthusiastic and devote more time and effort. Your positive attitude paves your way to success.

And, we all must remember that nothing goes wasted. It’s never about the time you have spent or marks you have gained. It’s the knowledge, skills, life experiences, and relationships that you acquired during the time that makes all the difference.

If it is the fear of losing time, always remember

“Everyone has a different timeline”

One of the challenges most students face while building their careers is developing an open mind. Here is how you can prepare yourself for something new, something exciting.

Be curious: As young minds, we have a lot to explore. Many doubts and questions pop into our minds, but we don’t ask them. We fear that the questions sound silly and make no sense. Think of how kids don’t hesitate to ask even the smallest details and that’s how they learn. Break the walls of shyness and get out of your comfort zone. Ask a lot of questions and don’t hesitate to try something new.
Accept challenges: When something challenging comes our way, we try to pass it due to fear of failure. But, when you take up something challenging, apart from winning or losing a third thing also happens and that’s learning. Yes, you acquire a new experience and that opens the door to a new opportunity.
Think about your passion: It’s human nature to feel excitement for certain things and that’s where you find your passion. Think about that adrenaline rush you feel while playing your favourite sport. That’s how your passion feels. Listen to your intuition, think about it and the happiness that comes will serve as a motivation for your goals. Why passion? Because that’s how you step an extra mile and build something extraordinary.
Think about the ways your passion can help you build a career: As soon as graduation comes to an end, we feel the career clock ticking. Many sports and artistic skills were earlier seen only as hobbies and people made careers out of them. Now, it’s your turn. When you find a way to build a career out of your passion, your mind will feel open to grabbing every opportunity.

We are living in a time where nothing pays more than passion and fulfilling experiences. If you have the spark, build it into a fire. Open your mind and you will see opportunities waiting for you.
